Construction & Engineering Recruiting for Teams With a Backlog and a Deadline
Contract, contract-to-hire, and direct placement talent who understand both the drawings and the schedule.
Whether you're a general contractor sitting on a full backlog or an engineering firm buried in stamped deliverables, you're hiring from the same shrinking pool. The work came back faster than the talent did. Catch finds construction and engineering professionals who can actually carry a project: people who've run the scope, know the delivery method, and don't need six months of ramp. From Project Managers to Civil Engineers to Superintendents, we deliver interview-ready professionals who fit your team, your project types, and your culture.
Three Ways to Get the People You Need
Different problems, different solutions. Here's how builders and design firms actually use us.
Contract Staffing
When you need capacity, not headcount.
You won the bid. Congratulations. Now you need two project engineers and a scheduler before mobilization, and headcount is frozen until the next fiscal year. Catch puts vetted construction and engineering professionals on your project fast, on our payroll, with the flexibility to scale as the work changes.
Vetted talent with real project experience, not resume keywords
Co-employment protection, we handle W2, payroll, and compliance
Flex your team up or down as the schedule dictates
Local presence with a national footprint
Meaningful reduction in time-to-hire
Direct Placement
When the seat needs a long-term owner.
Some hires can't be temporary. A VP of Operations, a Chief Estimator, a Director of Preconstruction, a PE-licensed Project Manager. For those, we run the full search: position-specific sourcing, pre-screening, qualification, and selection, then stay in it as your partner all the way through offer and close.
Talent attraction and engagement strategy built for your firm
Position-specific sourcing and long-term pipeline development
Pre-screen, qualify, and select, so you only meet real contenders
Interviewing strategy and development
A strategic partner and liaison through the close, not a resume vending machine
Contract-To-Hire
When you want to test the waters.
The role matters and the budget's The role matters and the budget's approved, but a Superintendent who can't run your job costs you a whole lot more than a signing bonus. Bring someone on contract, watch them work your project types, and convert when you're confident. Both sides get a real look first.
Try before you commit, and so do they
Lower risk on business-critical field and leadership roles
Clean, straightforward conversion terms
Candidates get a genuine feel for your culture and your project mix

Why Builders and Design Firms Keep Calling Us Back
TALENT
Fully-vetted, offer-ready candidates of the highest quality. In this industry that means we've confirmed the licensure (PE, SE, EIT), reviewed the actual project list for scale and delivery method, and had a real conversation about the work they've run and how they ran it. A PM who's done ground-up healthcare is a different hire than one who's done tenant improvements. We don't forward resumes, we send people who are ready to say yes.
TIME
Your team is shipping product, closing books, and answering to regulators. Screening 300 applications isn't the job. Financial searches burn time because the best people aren't applying, they're heads-down somewhere good. Reaching them takes relationships you've been building for years, and that's our problem to solve, not yours. We free up your time and resources so you can get back to the work that moves the business.
TEAM
A tenured crew with deep industry knowledge and real relationships. Our recruiters can talk through a payments architecture, understand why a consumer fintech PM isn't the same as a core banking PM, and know which licenses and certifications actually matter versus which are just alphabet soup. You get people who've been doing this a while, not a rotating cast of order-takers.
Who We Are
Catch Talent is a high-touch recruiting agency that delivers end-to-end talent acquisition solutions to growing technology, financial services, healthcare, digital and creative, professional services, and government contracting companies.
Headquartered in Charleston, SC, we specialize in the full talent attraction lifecycle: sourcing and recruiting qualified candidates who are interview-ready, culturally-aligned, and ready to make an immediate impact.
Construction and engineering sits at the intersection of two things we've done for years: technical recruiting and project-driven hiring. We've helped general contractors, design-build firms, engineering consultancies, and specialty subcontractors build teams through backlog surges, new market entries, and the occasional all-hands-on-deck mobilization. That work built the network, and the network is what you're hiring.
Built on relationships. Focused on people. That’s how we work.
How Can Catch Help You and Your Team?
Tell us what you're building and who you need on it. Whether it's one hard-to-fill Superintendent seat or an entire preconstruction team, we'd love to hear about it. Fill out the short form and we'll be in touch quickly, with actual humans.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Professional, technical, and management roles across both sides of the business. Project Managers, Superintendents, Estimators, Schedulers, and Safety Managers on the construction side. Civil, Structural, MEP, Geotechnical, Environmental, and Process Engineers on the design side. Plus the roles that keep projects moving: BIM Managers, Contract Administrators, and Project Controls staff.
-
No. We focus on professional, technical, and management positions: engineers, project managers, superintendents, estimators, and the leadership above them. If you need craft labor or trade staffing, we're not the right fit, and we'll tell you that on the first call rather than waste your time.
-
Faster than a job post and a hope. Because we work from an existing network instead of starting cold, most searches produce a qualified slate quickly. Actual timing depends on the role, the market, and how narrow the requirements are. Tell us the position and we'll give you a straight answer on what's realistic before you commit to anything.
-
Contract means the professional works your project but sits on our payroll, ideal for backlog surges and defined scopes. Contract-to-hire is the same setup with a built-in path to convert them once you're confident. Direct placement means we run a full search and they join you as a permanent employee from day one.
-
Both. Catch is headquartered in Mount Pleasant, SC and we know the Southeast market deeply, but we recruit and place nationally. Local presence, national footprint. If you're building somewhere we haven't worked yet, tell us about the market and we'll be honest about what we can do.
-
We go past the resume. That means verifying licensure and certifications, reviewing the actual project list for scale, sector, and delivery method, and having a real conversation about the work they've run and how they ran it. Then we check that they fit your culture and your project mix, not just your requisition.
-
Yes, and we know which ones actually matter. PE and SE licensure, EIT status, state-by-state reciprocity, OSHA 30, LEED accreditation, and discipline-specific certifications. If a role requires a stamp or a credential, we verify it before you ever see the candidate.
-
That's one of our favorite problems. We've supported firms through backlog spikes, geographic expansions, and large project mobilizations, adapting the engagement as the work changes. Sometimes that's a single strategic hire, sometimes it's a blended contract-and-direct approach to stand up a whole team. We'll build the plan with you.
-
It depends on the engagement model and the role. Contract staffing is billed at an hourly rate that includes wages, burden, and our fee. Direct placement is a fee based on the hire. There's no cost to have the first conversation, and we'll walk you through the numbers before anything gets signed.
-
We stand behind our placements. Direct placement engagements include a guarantee period, and on contract engagements we can swap talent if the fit isn't right. The specifics get spelled out in your agreement, and we'd rather over-communicate on this upfront than surprise anyone later.
